April 4, 1939 - October 26, 2020
Dr. Frazier Ben Todd, Sr., a native son and treasure of Atlanta Georgia has given a lifetime of servant leadership, compassion and care to generations of this city’s residents. While being the exceptional family man, father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, pastor, doctor, Dr. Todd used his own life as a glowing reflection of Christ-like love for all people.
Born April 4, 1939 in Riverdale, Georgia and raised in the Thomasville community of Atlanta. Dr. Todd graduated from Luther Judson Price High School, Class of 1957. After several years of college matriculation, Dr. Todd served his country by enlisting in the US Army and completing several tours including Vietnam. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine in 1972.
In 1974, Dr. Todd opened his own private practice, Dr. Todd and Associates, P.C., which included a state-of-the art Foot and Ankle Surgical Center. To better serve his patients, he opened a second location in the Gresham Road area of Atlanta. By 1980, a third location was opened in Decatur.
While serving thousands of patients over three decades, he also mentored and guided many young medical professionals. In adding to his professional development, Dr. Todd also became an affiliated registered member of several medical and hospital associations: Atlanta Hospital & Medical Center (GA); Columbia Northlake Medical Center (GA); Decatur Hospital (GA); Eisenhower Army Medical Center (GA); Physicians and Surgeons Hospital (GA); Wellstar Windy Hill (GA); Southwest Atlanta Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgical Center: Winn Army Hospital, Ft Stewart, GA.
Dr. Todd received his call and was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 1977 then served as Pastor of several AME Churches. By 1985 he founded and became the Pastor of Church of Hope Ministries, later extending the vision into an educational facility for young children which was called the Church of Hope Christian Academy. In 1994, Dr. Todd became a Restorative Justice Practitioner implementing its principals into leadership training and mentorship among the congregation and community.
Dr. Todd’s numerous professional affiliations include: American Academy of Wound Management, American Board of Disability Analysts, American Diabetes Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, American Society of Medical Technologists, Georgia (and) National Podiatric Medical Association(s), Atlanta Medical Association and Georgia State Medical Association. Dr. Todd served on the Board of Directors as well served as the Chief Director of Specialties at Southside Medical Center.
Civic Associations: Alpha Gamma Kappa Fraternity; Master Mason; Shriner 32nd degree; NAACP; Atlanta Chamber of Commerce; Southwest Atlanta and East Point Community Association(s)
Dr. Todd has left a lasting legacy of relationships in this city that crosses multiple delineations because of his life-long dedication to healing people through his medical practice, his prayers as a spiritual leader, or his encouraging words at dark times. Such a bright warm spirit, he definitely left an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to have made his acquaintance. He leaves to cherish his memory 6 children, grands and great-grands, as well as a host of extended family members, church family, friends, colleagues, and patients. He was very well loved and lived an amazingly full life. Dr. Frazier Ben Todd, Sr., truly one of Atlanta's Best of the Best!
